Magic Hat Wallpapers

I bought a 12 pack of Magic Hat the other day. The beer was good. I'm a huge fan of #9. The rest of the variety pack were good too, but the box it came in was really spectacular. I was so impressed I thought I would make some wallpapers out of them.

I don't know what the legality of it is to give these out, but I don't really think it is that big of a deal since I'm not selling them. Whatever, the box is friggin' cool and I thought someone might likem.

Just click on the image and you can download the larger version of it.

Enjoy

Great Frozen Dinner : Marie Callender's Shrimp Scampi

Every now and then I eat a frozen dinner for uhhm dinner. Usually they are pretty decent. I really like the Boston Market meals cuz they are big and good tasting. Last night I had Marie Callender's Shrimp Scampi. I was a little skeptical because most frozen shrimp dinners have everything but shrimp in them. But to my amazement Marie Callender stepped up to the plate and knocked me out with her shrimp scampi.

See the box... my meal didn't quite look like that once I had cooked it for 4 mins, then stirred and cooked the remaining time, but it did contain an exceptional amount of shrimps.

The shrimps bordered on the chewy side, but that is expected from frozen shrimpses. The peppers were pretty good ( alittle squishy) but overall exceptional for a frozen dinner. The garlic butter sauce was really good for frozen. Overall this isn't going to beat any Red Lobster, but for a five min microwave and a meal under $4 I'd about crap myself if anyone could beat it.

It was super tastey and I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Woodford Reserve Distillery Tour

A few months ago I took a tour out at the Woodford Reserve distillery. I never posted anything about it because I'm a slow ass. I don't know why I hadn't been there before. I only live about 10 miles from it and I love bourbon. Whatever. I had a good time.

The distillery is about 3 miles out side of Versailles KY. It is pretty far off of the main road. You have to drive out to the distillery, and if you've ever been to a winery or a distillery before then you'd know that they usually are off the beaten path a bit. Woodford is no different. The land it sits on is beautiful. Lots of acreage, a nice little creek that they used to use in the Bourbon. Lots of barns and stuff. Just really really pretty.

Woodford lets you tour the entire facility; everything from the big ass cyprus ferminting tanks to the copper distillers on to the warehouses that hold the oak barrels for aging. The tour is really insightful and anyone interested in how their booze is made will enjoy the tour. Our guide was a little ridiculous. I can't remember his name, but he made silly jokes and such, but overall it was very enjoyable.

The tour concludes with a shot and some bourbon ball chocolates. You can chill in their visitor center and read up on the distilling process even more if you wish. If you want to buy a bottle or barrel of Woodford Reserve you can. Bottles run around $40 and barrels around $10,000 for the reserve stuff.

I'd definitely suggest taking the tour if you are interested at all in Bourbon Whiskey and it is a very very cool place to visit. If you are from Kentucky, you should go and if you are just visiting, then definitely put it on the places to stop. Woodford Reserved couldn't be more in the heart of Bourbon/Horse country.

Heaven Hill Bourbon 100 proof: dangerously good

You know what pisses me off? People who bad mouth something they had a one bad experience with. Heaven Hill get's that rap so much. You say the word Heaven Hill to college kid and you're gonna see eyes roll and maybe even hear a puking sound. Why such a bad reaction? Well, I think I know why.

Is Heaven Hill bourbon so bad? Hell no! But here is the rub. Heaven Hill is cheap. Now think about college kids. Do they have any money? No. So what kind of booze do they buy? Cheap booze. What is cheap? Heaven Hill. So let's paint a picture. A college kid buys a fifth of Heaven Hill. They also buy a fifth of Crown (cuz for some reason college kids like Crown Royal). One costs $9 bux the other $20 something. They sip the Crown, cuz it's expensive. They have a glass, maybe two...sipping the entire time. Now that they've got a good pre-buzz, it is time to crack open the Heaven Hill. Sip it? Hell NO! This shit is cheap. The Heaven Hill flows and flows and flows. Then by night's end, that cheerful collegiate drinkin' champ is huddled over their hairy toilet, surrendering their night's intake. By morning, our champ is nothing but a hung over wreck. Who gets the blame? Heaven Hill. Should it get the blame? No, the drunkard chugging 100 proof booze wrecklessly should. Why don't higher costing spirits get the same shaft? Because it cost so much that no one will drink them wrecklessly.

Heaven Hill is a fine KY bourbon. I guarantee that if you did a blind taste test against other bourbons, it wouldn't come in last. It isn't the best, but it isn't the worst.

Okay. Enough praise. The Heaven Hill in the picture above is the 100 Proof gold label. There are many different kinds of Heaven Hill Bourbon. THe Gold label (100 proof) is dangerous. Why? Because the alcohol hides really well, and if you are drinking it with cola, that proof is going to sneak up on you. Once you are 2 drinks in you're going to feel it, and it is really kind of hard to moderate yourself. Even the most seasoned drinker may whind up on the end of a nasty hang over the next day by drinking 100 proof like an 80 proof beverage.

I'll be honest, I like Heaven Hill bourbons and think that they are a very very good value. I think that Heaven Hill gets a bad rap because of it's price tag, and that isn't fair in my book.

Give Heaven a second or 9th chance. You might find a new drink.

Greecian Pirate :DRUNK DRAWING

I got some charcoal pencils and thought I'd try'em out. I tried to copy some picture of a chick that Davinci or someone else from back then drew. Unfortunately I didn't have an eraser. Thus the Greecian Pirate was born.

It happened when I started drawing her second eye. I screwed up. SO I did what any lazy artist would do; I drew a patch over it.

The original image was a girl, mine looked more like a guy. Oh well. No good story to tell. Just an interesting, very bad sketch.

The pencils were pretty cool. They have an interesting drawing texture, much different from graphite. It is more gritty feeling. Whatever. A pencil is a pencil, these just don't have erasers.

Google Friend Connect

I just found this on another blog, but I thought, "Hey, WTH, I'll try anything once. So I found out how to stick this little Google Friend Connect on this here site. I'm not exactly sure what it means if you add your self to the site. I don't think it means we're blood brothers or anything like that. I think it just means you'll get notifications if the site is updated, and it also means you are my friend and entitled to a drink. Whatever the case I doubt anyone at all will do it, sooo join if you want, don't if you want. We'll see what becomes of it.

Peeeeaaaace.

Whole Foods April Fool's Website

April Fool's jokes are hilarious aren't they? Is there another day of the year where you can blatantly lie about anything and it is completely forgiven? I don't think so.

Whole Foods.com thought it would be funny to put up a bunch of fake stories and products on the front of their site. I thought it was funny.

Back to the April Fools thing. What was the most horrendous thing you've done on April 1st? Told someone you were gay? Said you were having an affair? Faked your death? That would be pretty good. I'm wondering, is there a line you shouldn't cross? Is there a point when your April Fool's antics are just a little too crazy to be forgiven?

Whatever. Click on the image for a larger pic of the website. Good stuff.
