Galvins In Georgetown KY

I was in Georgetown the other day on business. After my meeting I decided to grab a bite to eat. Under the recommendation of a local yokel, I headed to Galvins.

Galvins is a cute little bar in the middle of downtown Georgetown. The bar is mid sized, but big for a downtown location. The bar looks like it has been updated recently and featured a big wooden bar in the shape of a large square. They have 3 and a half rows of booths and tables, and probably could easily fit a few hundred people. The place was pretty snazzy and I'm sure it is packed for sports games. Over all it was a nice atmosphere.

Their menu was deep and featured many foods, ranging from burgers to pizza. They didn't have their drink prices posted so I couldn't say how they fair... probably average if I had to guess.

I ordered the buffalo chicken hoaggie and my lady got the philly stromboli. They were decently priced ($7 ish). They came pretty fast. The portions were very generous. I was very pleased.

The buffalo chicken was not a traditional buffalo sauce. It was more like a tangy honey mustard. It was very delish however it just wasn't what I was expecting. I wasn't disappointed, but a little thrown off. Very good sandwich. The stromboli was very very good. Kind of like a big calzone. It came with a side of marinara which was necessary but good. Overall the food was a huge success. I would eat there again.

Had a good time and highly recommended.

What the Hell have I done?

Not jack shit recently. I've been working, but not that hard. I don't know what I've been doing. I've mostly been drinking at home. Got Beatles Rock band and been beating my sticks on pads. Watching the tube. Sucking the ball sack of life.

Oh well.

Grow a pair and do something Booze.

Smelly Ray Adventures: Shoot for the STARS!

Smelly Ray, in case you didn't already know, is hot shit. How do we know this? Well, we met him one time. The guy is a little crazy. He drinks, smokes, womanizes, is socially unacceptable in most things. The bad part is that, it doesn't even come off a little charming, most of the time he is just repulsive. With that said, Ray can be funny and very entertaining. Maybe in the future we'll tell you some Smelly Ray stories, but for the moment, we'll leave you a rendition of a Comic book staring Smelly as the headling hero. Would it be a good book? Probably not on par with Faulkner or Steinbeck, but I'd have to say it would be entertaining.

Sidebar Grill on Limestone

My buddy and I wanted to check out the new Sidebar Grill on Limestone the other day. It is located where The Bistro used to be. Inside the facility has been totally remodeled with nice industrial styled fixtures, a brand new bar and really cool art. The place looks like a bar you might find in a big city.

So, yes, it is a bar, but it is also a grill. They serve up one very mean and tasty black bean burger, and great fries too. The food is cooked to serve and the best part is that they make food from Lunch to late night. That is awesome for a down town establishment. Great because anyone downtown at 4 pm knows how hard it is to find something to eat. The Sidebar's menu has a variety of pub grubs . . . burgers, sandwiches, etc. But there are a few interesting things like fish and chips and the Sidebar flat iron steak.

Now the important part: drink prices and booze. Right at the moment Sidebar is beer only, however they just got their liquor license and are prepping to stock the bar. Perhaps they should throw a stock the bar party. Whatever the case, they probably have the best beer prices for downtown. They got $3 24oz Pabst and $2 Draft Miller Lt. What else do you need? Cheap beer, good food, cool atmosphere and probably one of the nicest bar tenders / owners ever. You don't need much else.

The side bar just opened, but we're sure it will stay that way for a very long time.
